Peru 2007 Medical Mission
Dear Friends and Family:I think it is safe to say that the Medical Mission in ICA-Peru was a success just based on so many people working together in a great spirit to benefit the least fortunate people in Hospital Santa Maria del Socorro in ICA-Peru, which is the city of the epicenter of the earthquake last August 15th.
Because of the earthquake, half of the Hospital collapsed. The team of doctors was able to do surgery about 40 mothers that were admitted to the Hospital. We were able to work in the other half of the hospital but with limitations. The need was greater than last year, so the people that we were able to serve were really grateful. The mission was extremely emotional.
Dr. Henry Hamilton, founder of MEDLEND medical relief organization, and the crew of doctors that came to ICA were amazing, working long hours sometimes not even eating so they could continue with the surgeries for the least fortunate people of ICA. The doctors left behind all the medicine and medical supplies that would be enough to do more surgeries by the local doctors at no cost for the patients. The local doctors received training in these surgeries during the mission.
The journey has been very intense and emotional but rewarding. Many have benefited and if God allows us we will continue working so that the next year many more will benefit. Your presence in my life gave me the strength to look outside of my own world and guide me to give something back to others.
THANK YOU from depth of my heart for all your prayers and support.
God bless you always.
