Incorporated September 28, 2005 Community of Jesus Foundation. The organization was then amended to be named Bridges-Puentes Foundation. It was established to help in the development of the people of the poorest families in Peru and Latin America. The organization will develop innovative projects to teach the Peruvian people how to prevent illness and how to be healthy and stay healthy. Ancient Peru was the cradle of the Incan Empire. Today that heritage is reflected in the faces of the many groups of indigenous people who still dress in traditional clothing and speak the ancient Quechua language. The people of Peru are in great need of education and training. Since the 1980s they have dealt with economic crises and terrorisms. The census in 2003 estimated that more than half of the population lives below the poverty line and nearly 15% of Peruvians cant read or write. Our efforts in Peru focused not only on the rural poor living in villages outside of the Lima capital Peru, but also the budding population of urban poor who live in shanty towns without adequate housing, education, or health care in Peru and Latin America.
